There is great scope for innovative interaction between the art and science of multisensory perception within the spaces of museums and galleries. Collaborative work in this field can, for example, make museum exhibits more attractive to young children and more accessible to people with sensory deficits.
Tate Galleries – we are exploring ways of studying how audiences interact with modern works of art. This partnership will bring more people into museums for richer experiences, while the data collected will feed back into our discussions about aesthetics, which are integral to the project.
Art and Mind – we will be working with Garry Kennard, artist and Director of the Art and Mind project, to help produce a six-part series of workshops on Senses and Art. The workshops will be held at the GV Art gallery, a space that specialises in art influenced by science.
